What is data service?
When you use the WAP or Internet browsers to download ringtones, games, get news, weather, sports and travel information, or when you use email messaging, you are using data services.

What are the benefits to the plan?
You can better manage your monthly cellular spending by signing up for a plan. Data service is available for all postpaid accounts so even if you do not have a data plan, you can still access data on your phone. Data usage without a data plan is charged at $0.015/kb. These charges can quickly add up, so if you plan on using data on your phone a data plan is a smart choice.†

With M3, you can get broadband like data speeds up to 3.2mbps* using our new 3G high speed network. With your 3G ready device and 3G SIM card, you can surf the Internet, send emails, download music and videos faster than ever before. **There is no extra charge for 3G data service. Please note: All M3 Wireless customers MUST subscribe to a long distance provider in order to make or receive long distance calls AND to send and receive data on BlackBerry devices and PDA's while traveling abroad.

All data fees listed include LOCAL usage only. Voice and data roaming are premium services and are not included in the local rate fees. Roaming charges include local network airtime, data, foreign network access and airtime and long distance fees.

Mobile Broadband Plans**
With M3’s Mobile Broadband data plans and a portable modem for your laptop, you can access the internet wirelessly using M3’s super fast 3G network. The modems come in the form of a USB stick or PC card.  These devices have been designed to fit almost any laptop. If you need to send emails and access the Internet while on the move then this is the perfect solution for you. There are no wires to connect to your computer. Simply plug in the device, follow the installation instructions and you are ready to go. Mobile Broadband is ideal for people that want to send and receive email, surf the web, instant messaging or download games. If you are a heavy user, this may not be suitable for streaming live TV or downloading movies. This is internet on the go and using our data services makes life simple.

How much data am I using?

Audio and video streaming (i.e. watching a youtube video, listening to online music or radio) use large amounts of data. You may also use data without realizing it as your computer may do automatic upgrades in the background. For example Microsoft Windows, anti-virus software or music sharing sites (i.e. LimeWire) will check online for updates or virus definitions.
